Hi historians,
Google has failed me in my quest to find more detail about this girl
We are trying to work out what is likely on this girls' left shoulder and what her locket looks like.
Originally we thought it was her hair but the angle is wrong and it seems to be missing any hair flow from the top of her head.
We believe this was RAF 61st squadron if that helps.
Any information you can provide (or point me to where I should be asking) will be appreciated!
I think she is holding a fencing sword (epee) and bending the end of it, like this.
The aircraft appears to be serial number ME725, code QR-G, assigned to 61 Squadron at RAF Skellingthorpe, UK. Shot down over Ilschhausen (near Augsburg), Germany on December 6, 1944.
Here is some more information.
Looks like it is her hair over her shoulder. I presume it doesn't flow from her head because her head is turned that direction. Plus, nose art wasn't portrait-perfect.
