What is the "Frontier Thesis" by Frederick Jackson Turner?

I just want to make sure I have a clear understanding. So the FT contest the germ theory. The Germ theory insist that the reason America was how it was back when it was first being colonized was because of European antecedents. The Frontier theory suggest that the European settlers were transformed by the colonization of the new land which formed a new mind set and social behavior.

This previous discussion may be of use to you. If I can help further feel free to ask questions.

The difference between the two interpretations of the immigration and colonization question seems to me to be a matter of whether you are placing more weight on your left or right foot. It's all a question of balance, and as you walk, each takes on the same weight alternatively. Can't both be reasonable ways to consider the process?
