I'm not quite sure what you're asking, to be honest; are you suggesting that modern military no longer use armoured infantry (in either the sense of having an armoured transport or wearing personal armour)? Because they certainly do. Or are you asking about the transition from leather, plate, and chain armour to no armour in the 18th-20th centuries?
