Are there any procedures in place for the reburial of Egyptian mummies?

What with Tutankhamun being back in the news recently, I began wondering about the more esoteric aspect of Ancient Egyptian archaeology. Tutankhamun's mummy as been unwrapped, and there are quite a large number of mummies on display in various museums. Could such things not be considered the desecration of corpses?

As far as I know, certain people can ask fir the reburial of dead bodies, depending on the relation they have with the deceased. Ex. If a museum has a man who died in 1780 exposed for whatevs reason and you are his relative, you can demand the reburial of the corpse.
No idea how that applies to mummies. Maybe Egypt as a state holds some kind of power regarding that.
