This /r/HistoryPorn sparked my interested about the Anglo-Soviet Invasion of Iran in 1941. The Wikipedia article lists a timeframe of less than a month with very low casualties. How was this accomplished, especially given how rugged some parts of Iran are?
The Iranians did not resist (except for a couple of hotheads) and the Shah ordered the military -- such as it was -- to lay down their arms.
