Outside Britain and the Netherlands the technology remained little changed until the end of the century, in southern and eastern parts until the 1930s or later. There were improvements, but as in the leading countries a century or so earlier they tended to be of technique rather than technology. Yields rose appreciably - by a quarter in the latter half of the century alone - but the number of workers in agriculture continued to rise until the eve of WW1.
