If you look at ancient Mesopotamians, you are going to see beards in the tidiest curls imaginable, even when their heads are shaved. How they talked the normally crinkly and wiry beard hair into that had to involve a lot of heated tongs to straighten then curl.

The Sumerians used a lot of kaunakes, or clothing made of something like a fleece with very straight wool that hung in long locks.

The normal Minoan woman wore a loose robe with short sleeves that bared her breasts. A lady of the court wore a tight bodice not covering her breasts, a heavy metallic wide belt that acted as waist cincher and may have been soldered in place. Below that was a very full skirt covered in ruffles that in some periods may have been supported on hoops, not just lots of petticoats. We know from late-Minoan sculpture that sometimes the skirts were divided while stilll being covered by ruffles.

Minoan men also wore the cinch belt.

Egyptian culture is often viewed as changeless, but their art shows a lot of development in fashion down the centuries.
