Those examples are all from the United States prior to them joining the conflict. Most Americans and American media were strongly against joining the war at this time, so it's not surprising newspapers were running rather gruesome images of life in the trenches.

The British on the other hand (I can't speak for the French and German side of things) censored all war-related media with a very firm hand. Photographers and journalists were banned from the front, and soldiers were not permitted to have a camera or take photographs (though many still did secretly.) Even letters written by men in the forces were strictly censored.
