I read that US presidential primaries were not included in the constitution and it was something that happened over time. How and why did it evolve into something that we are seeing today?
Just want to clarify one thing - hopefully this is an acceptable comment here. The primaries are done by the political parties, not the government itself, thus the constitution's silence on the issue.
