https://youtu.be/nruExeJKmoQ Monsterology: A philosophical history of monsters (Stephen T. Asma)
This looks like a very general and 'in a nutshell' type of presentation so it is hard to judge the historical merits of the points he makes.
However, the presentation is based on his book On Monsters: An Unnatural History of Our Worst Fears. I sneaked into JSTOR for a quick search for academic reviews of the book and came up with one result from the publication Science Fiction Studies, which calls the book a 'comprehensive, dynamic, vigorously researched, and erudite study'. I think the book itself should be your port of call for further and more in-depth information.
