Is there any Israeli record of this? I went to Israel awhile ago and kept hearing about this being true, but I also kept hearing people deny that it happened all the time.
I mean, the people got into the Palestinian refugee camps somehow.

Israelis deny that there were mass expulsions, because it was the official narrative for so long. Many Israelis no longer believe this, because it started to change in the 1980s with the "New Historians" (mostly Israeli historians that got access to some documents showing proof of some expulsions; the extent is debated).
It's hard to count how many refugees there are or how many were expelled, because documentation is so difficult. People estimated, it was a war, Palestinian documentation doesn't exist or was destroyed or collected by Israel and is still under wraps where not released so far, etc. Hard to talk about present narratives and beliefs among Israelis because this sub is not supposed to talk about that.
