Why do most African societies use the word "Red Ears" or Honky for Semite people? I've heard it used from Senegal to Somalia

I'm from Somalia and Arabs are called Dhega Cas ( Red Ears). They're called Xonq Xe in Senegal and Even Madagascar uses it. Is there some common thread linking them?

I've never heard "mena sofina" used to call semite people in particular in Madagascar. It's for white people in general and Arabs are usually white skinned.
