Red grips aren't an industry standard at all.

I can go look in my toolbox and see several types of pliers and different brands, no red grips.

I don't believe this theory can be defended at all.

Milwaukee brand does use red grips, and Craftsman uses black w/ red as a secondary, but most other brands use different colors.
