What actions were taken during the 50s and the 60s by the Soviet Union to keep the 3 Baltic Republics (Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia) in control?

The Soievts were controlling the territories and people militarily. It was a method number 1 to retain these states in the USSR. Other method is intelligence, of course. And third one is work with elite who received personal wealthies.
