Hi there, I currently teach at a boarding school and my schedule is demanding from September-May. I am hoping to go for my master's in history, but with my current schedule (coaching, teaching five classes, dorm life, advisory) there is just no way I could meet my job expectations and academic expectations. Does anyone know of any universities that offer summer programs for teachers or professionals in my position? I don't want to quit my job to do graduate school, but really want to take my studies to the next level. Any advice would be helpful!
Most universities don't offer graduate courses during the summer (professors tend not to teach in the summer).
The people I know who have gone from working at a private school to a MA in history have tended to either (a) get permission (and perhaps financial support) from their school to take a leave of absence or (b) quit and then rely on their combined experience and education to get them a job when they're done.
