Surprisingly no!

I've been looking at any book I can on German-Japanese relations, and at best there was just the most minor mention of some Nazis wanting them again along with their former African colonies, mainly out of pride.

What it came down to was that Germany needed an alliance with Japan more than it needed what were just scraps of leftover territory from the colonial scramble of the late 19th century, because the war with Britain was not going to plan now that the Americans were supplying them (short of war), and he needed the Brits and Americans to be distracted in a parallel conflict as far away as possible.

Enter the Tripartite Pact. The price for it was Hitler's willingness to "recognized that east and south-east Asia belonged to Japan's sphere of interests". So the various uninhabited or lightly inhabited islands were left to Japan.
