I like the Tudors (2007-2010), and Elizabeth I (2005) for early modern England. I like both versions of the Borgias (2011), even if they are highly fictionalized, they are deliciously evil.

I would stay away from Reign (2013). It's highly fictionalized and too stylized for my taste.

I really really wish I could have access to Carlos, rey emperador, a new Spanish TV series, and I wish I could either pick up Castilian Spanish in a hurry or get it with English subtitle.

The Age of the Medici. Italian miniseries that's on Criterion. It's a great little window into Italian nationalism.
