I just watched the "Sex in Ancient Egypt" documentary and it mentions that Victorian England tried to erase or suppress Egyptian native sexuality. I have heard accounts of missionaries being shocked at the sexuality of the peoples in the New World being somewhat casual about sexuality as well. What is the source of this Victorian anti-sex, anti-desire attitude?
Sending this telegramic message to /u/VertexofLife & /u/prehensilefoot who should be able to answer your question and if this delves into the realm of psychology, just ping me back & I'll be happy to answer :)
