Vietnam War and Women

by [deleted]

I am an undergraduate writing a paper about the varied experiences of vietnamese women during the Vietnam (American) War. Can anyone point me to a historical source of the period that covers the experience of women soldiers, entertainment industry workers, etc.? I have found a number of anthropological sources that deal with memory and post-war experiences, but there seems to be a gap in scholarship when it comes to history.

Good luck finding that, that I'm aware of there is very little written in English about the NVA from their perspective. In general that's how history works, there is precious little in English written about the Japanese side in WWII or the Chinese/North Korean experience in Korea. I'm working on a book about the battles that took place on the Korean DMZ between 1966 and 1969 and my publisher told me specifically to limit the amount of space I give to the SK army because American readers don't care and don't want to read about other armies. Seriously, best of luck but you've picked an extremely esoteric subject.
