Why were the Egyptian pyramids abandoned by civilization?

by UBT400

I was watching a documentary (you all probably know how misleading and biased those can be), and I decided to look into it a bit more in depth. But I can find a straight answer as to why the ancient Egyptians left and stopped "living there." Is there even a definite answer to this?

They didn't. I'm sorry, but this isn't gonna be a very long answer because it's a misconception that Egyptians lived there. The pyramids were mortuary buildings; the villages that have been excavated around eg. the pyramids of Giza, have been identified as building camps. The Eastern side of the Nile was for the living, while the Western side was for the dead.

not an expert=- The pyramids were tombs for their dead kings, no one ever lived in them. People still live a 5 min drive away or closer to the pyramids. view from kfc
