I was on Wikipedia and it said that the Plague of Justinian killed an initial 25 million, escalating to 50 million people after two centuries of recurrence. If the Plague of Justinian did kill this many people, why does nobody talk about it as much as the Black Death?
The Spanish Flu killed 119 million yet if I quizzed the average person in the U.S. they would probably tell me that the flu can't kill you. This is why doctors tell you to always get your flu shot because they know how bad this actually is.
To explain why something is popular in the eyes of the media even though there is a far more significant and cataclysmic event is honestly beyond me. A lot of people are content with little knowledge and don't seek out more information. They know about the most popular events and their historical knowledge ends there.
