I've been doing some reading about New Orlean's voodoo, but they don't seem to touch very much on Veve and it's symbolism. I was wondering if anybody has any more information about these? I am fascinated by their beauty and would love to know more about them.
I'm doing my PhD work with Haitian Vodouisants. A good starting point for veve might be Elizabeth McAlister's dissertation, which was focused on veve titled "The Veve of Haitian Vodou: A Structural Analysis of Visual Imagery." I'm not aware of any good in-depth historical work, though. Is there something specific you want to know about veve?
