So I saw a news article about Donald Trump talking about how General Pershing supposedly executed Muslims with 'bullets dipped in pigs blood' or being buried with pigs. Was this just standard Trump fare or did this actually happen in the war, and if it did, what were its results?

That said, there is some interesting historical precedent in the 18th century Puckle Gun. It came with two types of barrel and ammunition. Round ammunition was used against Christians, and square ammunition against Muslims. The supposedly more painful square ones were to encourage muslims to convert to Christianity, or some such.
