Did Peter III pull Russia out of the Seven Years' War too early?

by vinz212

I read an article today which implied that Peter III pulled Russia out of the Seven Years' War just as they were on the verge of a big breakthrough. Is this analysis accurate? If so, what was the context of the withdrawal? What were the factors that influenced his decision?

Sort-of follow-up question: I read that Peter III was a big fan of Frederick the Great and the Prussians in general. Is this true, and if so, how did it come about?
