What time period are you asking about? Hellenistic/Roman times or Ancient Egyptian?

I have a feeling that the Isis (/Ceres/Diana/Venus/Proserpina/Magna Mater/...) mystery cult I know e.g. from reading Apuleius did not have very much in common with whatever may have been practiced two and a half thousand years before that time.
