Acknowledging now thanks to Schliemann that Troy was real, scholars are placing it in new light and into the framework of history. It went down during or shortly before the collapse of the Bronze Age. Can anyone direct me to scholars attempting to fix a time-date for Troy’s fall? (It apparently had many.)
The current scholarly estimate of the date for the conflict on which Homer based his epic is roughly the 1300s-1200s BC. This thread has a number of answers citing some excellent sources on the topic. I'll reproduce some of them here:
