Hello all, I'm trying to track down some info on what part of Italy my great grand father came from in Northern Italy and its been very difficult due to a lack of information from my family. Obviously I don't expect you guys to solve anything for me but I could use help with a good starting point. My Grandmothers family is extremely well documented to the point where we have journals of relatives dating back to the late 1700's but my Grandfathers side is extremely difficult due to his Parents ( My great grandfather) Rough Family history and lack of family ties.

My great grandfather came to america roughly around the early 1900's and was adopted by an american family at a young age and because of this he assumed his adopted families Identity and history.

The only two leads I have are his adopted last name and a general idea of where he came from in northern Italy.

His last name before he came was "Poloza", I thought this would be a very good clue but I've turned up nothing as I don't think the above is the correct spelling. I've tried looking for names similar but due to obvious language barrier its hard to discern what the correct spelling would be.

The second clue is that the part of Northern Italy that he came from is no longer Italy and is either part of Slovenia or Croatia.

I Apologize if this isn't the correct sub but any info would help. I know its a long shot but I'll answer any questions with whatever info is needed.
