I'm a Citizen in America during the space race of the cold war. What kind culture, entertainment and media is being pumped out by the United States that an average person would enjoy related to the space race?

I am asking because I have to do a research report on a topic how an external event has effected America, and not a large amount info is out there about the culture side of these politically tense times.

In the late 1950s and 1960s, comic books took on the Cold War, social changes, and the rising prominence of science in American culture in a big way. The Space Race is wrapped up in all of this. If you direct your search efforts to "Cold War" and "comics," I bet you'll find quite few books and articles to dig your teeth into.
