[The First World War] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJuMQ14n_go) is the best WWI documentary series out there; it's based off Hew Strachan's (hopefully) three volume series, The First World War. Avoid Apocalypse: WWI like the plague and you should be fine!

Not sure if it's been suggested to you before, or if it is something you desire, but search "The Great War" on YouTube. It is a channel dedicated to reporting the weekly events of the first world war 100 years after the fact. The writers and host try to cover as many aspects of the war as possible but generally focus on combat, strategy, front line conditions, and the sort. Though, they also have moments wherein they talk about government actions and domestic life during the time.

The host presents each week like a news report. In the video he is accompanied by videos taken during the time, pictures, and graphics outlining the map and lines of battle. Generally speaking, the length of each episode is roughly 10 minutes with exceptions for greater and shorter lengths. Along with the main series, there are some side episodes where they look at important people during the war. People mentioned have been famous generals, heads of state, and notable soldiers. Others look at how the war affected development of items. Whether it be telecommunication, automotive transportation, or medicine. Finally, they have recently been doing a week answering of questions people send in or comment about on their videos.

Just watched a documentary series on Netflix called "14 - Diaries of the Great War." It's readings for various real people's diaries. Great for a personal perspective.
