The treaty of Westphalia was -in my mind, at least - is the most important and influential treaty Europe created. The 30 year started because multiple priests were pushed out of a window, in Prague... yep

the 30 year war was the result of the saga which eas started way back in 1517. This sparked revolts and restlessness throughout Europe. Although the 30 year were religiously based; but its heart, had everything about power anf most importantly, sovereignty.

the church was the dominant power throughout 11-14th century. However, the increase in trade and new institutions created by kings of land created tension with thr Church and the 'new' states that were becoming increasingly organized and creating armed forces. With this, came conflict between the power (The Church) and that of the States.

The 30 year was a complete reorganization of Europe. States wanted to rule anf worship their own particular form of Christian law. The war was brutal and unforgiving (especially in the Germanic lands). However, the treaty which was signed in 1848, cemented a new order in Europe; states were recognized as legitimate and obtained sovereign holdings.

States gained greater control whilst the - still influential -church diminished its once great power over Europe.

The results of the 30 year war created states as we view them today. Its influence remains with us, to this very day.
