I'm reading up on the history of pottery and ceramics. It's fascinating stuff but I'm having a hard time finding any info on pre-contact Australian pottery. Did they simply not have any?
There was likely pottery at various points in the Northern Territory from Austronesian trade. However, pottery did not spread outside austronesian contact and to my knowledge has not been excavated on the Australian continent itself.
