Richard E. Byrd was awarded the Medal of Honor for noncombat efforts-namely polar exploration-in 1926. Are there many others who have been awarded this honor for non-combat efforts?

Charles Lindbergh got it for his 1927 trans-atlantic flight.

I'm pretty sure that Byrd's partner and one other arctic explorer got it, but I have no sources for them.
