Was reading some comments and I saw this post
I'm not sure most people understand yet that the Oligarchy has been in power since the dawn of time....and that this is the first time in history that the people are truly rising up against the right FOE. This is some serious shower thoughts shit.
(i am not sure what FOE means)
I'm wondering, have people always thoughts like this even within a democracy?
Clearly it's not the first time in history people have risen up (so that statement is either hyperbolic or just wrong) but within functional democracies, it seems like the push for Trump and Sanders love is something unique.
Are there historical parallels?
Were there similar sentiments toward high powered families and industries in the past?
First, most statements that go with "has been this way since the dawn of time" are often problematic if not very disinformed (if not plain stupid : ) )
Second, democracy is a word with a long history, and its now-established meaning of representative democracy has not always been this way. In fact before the 18th and 19th century, it was a very negative word, associated with what we would now call anarchy, which is definitely not oligarchic. The turn happened with the american and french revolutions, and the politicians involved in them, which co-opted the word to describe their representative (and therefore, I would say more oligarchic) governments.

Ps : I just realized but... FOE might just means foe ? like "enemy" ?
