Did president Polk achieve any major economic gains for the country during his presidency?

Currently in American history and we kind of just skimmed right over him, did he really not do much?

I don't know if this is just so obvious it didn't come up as economics, but under Polk, the US won the Mexican-American war. The treaty of Guadelupe Hidalgo led to the annexation of nearly a third of the current continental United States, including California. Surely that is an overwhelming economic gain, considering the long-run value of those territories to the US?
