I remember reading a children's book about St. Brendan when I was a child. It was meant for younger readers, and told the story of his life as a saint. A very accessible retelling of the Brendan myth.
One of the items I remember very distinctly from that book was that St Brendan always hated music. In fact, if he heard music, he would plug his ears with wax. And yet when I have read up on St Brendan recently, I have never found any reference to this.
Am I misremembering? Is this part of the Brendan story? Does anyone have any source that indicates his hatred of music?

This tells a story about why St. Brendan blocked up his ears. The story runs that he was visited by an angel who played heavenly music to him, and after that, earthly music just sounded terrible in comparison, so he avoided it.
