I have found no relatively popular analysis on any mainstream scholarly database (Jstor/EBSCOhost etc.) analyzing the accuracy of the depiction of pirates in modern movies. It's a bit lazy to ask on here but I figure you guys know your shit so why not.
I remember finding just one or two, after long efforts. But I won't be able to access my database for a few days.
I've made some efforts to do some proper analysis of pirate content - specifically Black Sails the TV series - which you can read here.
For now, I just remembers a couple books that might help you (you said articles before, so my mindset was only on that).
Try either British Pirates in Print and Performance or Treasure Neverland: Real and Imaginary Pirates. Both books will have parts in it that address media depictions of pirates, including some movies.
