By my count there were three times we had five former presidents all still living.

The first time was in 1861, when Lincoln was president. Van Buren, Tyler, Fillmore, Pierce, and Buchanan were the still living former presidents.

The second time was in 1993, when Clinton was president. We had Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, and the elder Bush.

The third time was in 2001 when the younger Bush became president. We had the the same cast except with Clinton replacing Nixon.

The death of Reagan and Ford prevented us from having five during Obama's terms. But if everyone still living can hold on until next January we'll have five again.
