First time poster (also not a historian, just a curious redditor).
This may be the stupidest question, but I'm curious whether there were any slaves who supported the enslavement of their people. I ask because in the USA's presidential election we have people of all races supporting Donald Trump for president despite making some rather nasty and racist remarks. This lead me to wonder if there have ever been slaves or people of traditionally enslaved races who supported the enslavement of their people, from any point in time. Please let me know if I can clarify my question in any way, and thank you in advance for your answers!
There were black slave owners in the United States (Black Slaveowners: Free Black Slave Masters in South Carolina, 1790-1860" by Larry Kroger goes into detail, specifically in SC, but such owners existed in all 13 colonies). The following JSTOR article by Halliburton also covers black owners with white indentured servants (http://www.jstor.org/stable/27567319?seq=1#page_scan_tab_contents). Though when we think of American slavery we imagine giant plantations with rampant cruelty, the majority of all slave owners had only 5-10 and worked alongside their slaves.
