We all know that the mother of a King or Queen could be called the Queen Mother or cultural equivalent right?
I was wondering; what happens in the King had been a commoner?
Like, not a drop of Royal Blood exists in Bob's veins and he didn't marry into royalty but somehow came to be on a throne anyways.
Is there a special title for his mother in that case? Or would she be considered, retroactively, royalty?
"Queen Mother" is because they used to be Queen consort, not because their child became King or Queen.
We have several English and British cases of Kings whose mothers were not Queens and they did not assume the title "Queen." Most recent example is Augusta, mother of George III. She was never Queen because her husband predeceased her father-in-law George II, and was never called Queen even after her son's succession. Also Henry VII's mother likewise never "Queen" of any sort.
