Louis...XVI? My lad, you seem to be mistaken, else are having a laugh at my expense--in poor taste, I must say, from a presumed gentleman of your stature. The current French king is Louis XV, scion of the late Roi-Soleil, ever a fickle friend to Scotland, who has ill used our Royal family these past years. Gone is the France of yore, which gave succour to our King James when he was but an infant, and which raised up so many of our loyal Jacobite men. True, I suppose, that your liège allowed His Highness to sail from you fair shores, but what of the further monies and soldiers we were promised? Aye, promised, only to be kept back in our hour of need. Or what, pray tell, of the indignity foisted on our king by the Treaty of Utrecht, obliging him to leave his adopted home for far Italia? No, I cannot profess love for any monarch of your fickle land.

Upon hearing of your support of me, I am filled with joy. These have been dark times, filled with uncertainty and anger. My dear wife, the beautiful Marie Antoinette has been dreadfully afraid of the events that have been unfolding and her best friend, the Princess Lambelle was dreadfully killed at the hands of those filled with hate.
However I must be humble and beg you to not name be the best. Being born to become the King of France, I have history behind me to live up towards. I honor both my parents and grandfather, Louis XV. However my great great grandfather, Louis XIV has done more for France than anyone else through the Grace and blessing of God.
I shall pray for you and yours tonight during my prayers. With much time spent in reflection before the Lord, I beg him daily for a deliverance that will save France from falling the way of Spain or Poland.

Ah, becuase under him the French are the happiest people in the world...and have the best disposition to make others so. There is such a choice of elegant entertainments in the theatric way, of good company and excellent books that nothing would be wanting for me in this country but my family and peace to my country to make me one of the happiest of men
