Did a famous composer lose his mind because he had a nite stuck in his head? Possibly Chopin

by kluger

I heard once that Chopin lost his mind because f minor got stuck in his head but can't seem to find information about it, possibly it was a different composer.

Since no one has answered yet, you are thinking of Robert Schumann, who spent his final years in an asylum, tormented by an intrusive A5. You might be thinking of F#, because it is commonly used in the tritone, called "the devil in the music". Two notes that have interesting historical gootnotes, but not the same.

"nite" is a typo for "note", yes?
