What's the earliest known evidence of humans making toys for animals?

by PablanoPato

I was watching my dog chew a ball which got me thinking about how long humans have been providing dogs with toys. The Wikipedia article on the subject was laughable and didn't have anything related to history.

I am sure humans have been giving scraps and bones to dogs, but when was the first animal given a toy?

Hi, if you don't get an answer here, you might try one of the more archaeology-focussed subs, e.g. /r/AskAnthropology, /r/Archaeology, or /r/AskScience (Social Sciences)
