Book recommendations: Ottoman Empire/Africa

by binaco

I'm looking specifically for books covering both the Ottoman Empire and Africa during the WWI era and immediately after.

Ottoman empire during World War I, I would check out:

  • Sean McMeekin, The Ottoman Endgame
  • Eugene Rogan, The Fall of the Ottomans
  • D.K. Fieldhouse, Western Imperialism in the Middle East

I'm afraid I can't recommend anything that covers both Africa and the Ottoman Empire as a collective subject as I've never come across any works that do so. Perhaps a general history of the war? I haven't read it yet, but the new Cambridge History of the First World War has sections on both Africa and the Ottoman Empire in the war, both as theaters of conflict and the imperial context of the war effort, and is likely to be top-notch.
