I'm recently become interested in the history of Spain (and surrounding areas like Portugal/France). Instead of reading endless Wikipedia pages, can anyone recommend a book on the history of Spain, should one exist? I'd prefer no textbooks, just a casual, fun, informative read. Thanks you guys!
Hey. I could suggest you some books, but I could use some specification, I mean, what are you interested at, exactly.
Yeah, you kinda need to get into some specifics here. If you want to avoid a "boring textbook", then more requirements are needed. I can recommend some very general survey books:
JH Elliott, Imperial Spain, 1469-1715
John Lynch, Bourbon Spain, 1700-1808
Raymond Carr, Spain, 1808-1975.
Again, with specifics you'll get more engaging reads. Otherwise, you'll probably find these reads to be too textbook-ey.
