In the reading I have been doing the Alemmani are often referred to as a germanic tribal confederacy made up to a significant degree of Suebians. I have seen the Macomanni referred to as a separate people who formed a superconfederacy with the Suebians and others. The Quadi are often talked about as migrating alongside the numerous Marcomanni or perhaps as a branch of the Suebi.

Can anyone provide some clarity on these seemingly overlapping venn diagrams of germanic people north of the Upper Rhine and Danube?
