During WW1 because the trench line ran from Switzerland up to the Channel is there any instances of fighting or a battle taking place at the extream ends of the lines.

Mostly I'm interested in Weatern Front battles that might have been fought in different terrain then typical. Like a battle along the beaches.

There wasn't any fighting on the beaches, but there was fighting in the flooded areas along the Yser in 1914 and 1917. In 1914, the Belgians and the French were able to hold off the advancing Germans, while in 1917 there was some fighting between the German Marine Korps and the British 4th Army, which was stationed along the Yser in preparation for Operation Hush, the planned amphibious landings at Ostend that were to accompany a British break-out from the Ypres Salient (the 3rd Battle of Ypres, 'The Battle of Passchendaele'). As for along the Swiss border, there was no major fighting that I'm aware of, though further north in Alsace there was heated fighting around the Hartmannwillerskopf, a large hill that was the site of fighting in 1915.
