I have always loved spy novels and such and while I know a decent about the CIA during the Cold War my knowledge of the KGB is extremely limited. What training would an operative receive ?
It's been over a decade since I read it so I can't give you exact details, but Victor Cherkashin's memoir, Spy Handler, does feature a section where he describes his training. Cherkashin is the guy who recruited and ran Aldrich Ames and Robert Hanssen, so a more-accomplished KGB officer is difficult to find.
