Maybe this is a subjective question, but I'd be curious to hear the opinions of learned (or at least relevantly flared people) on the matter?

The thread /u/Polybios linked to should answer most of your questions. I tried watching one of their videos once, and didn't make it more than about 90 seconds into it before I stopped. In general I try to avoid giving channels like that more views so I just avoid their content (thus I don't have a pre-prepared point by point takedown for you) but if you have any specific questions from the videos either myself or another flair would be happy to try and answer them.
