World War I Pictures, and the possibility of their historical significance.

by baudbard

I've come into possession of some pictures from WWI.

There are a ton more. If these are legitimate are they rare enough for a museum to want to preserve them?

Or are they common enough to remain a family curiosity?

I am concerned that as a household, we do not have the wherewithal to properly keep them. But there is no question that we would like to maintain ownership. We would be most grateful for any assistance or direction in making sure they are properly preserved.

Thank You for your time!

These appear to be mass market copies of well-known photos. If your family have original photographs from WWI taken by an ancestor or relative that might be of interest for an archive, or if these are somehow originals (which I doubt, i.e. the Quentin Roosevelt photo, for instance was taken by a German as he crashed behind enemy lines, and it was then published across the US.)

Unless someone else on here disagrees I would go with a verdict of:

  • common enough to remain a family curiosity
