I was checking that through the internet and i found some sites that proposed that archaeologists found 2000 years old honey in Egypt and also tasted it!! And that we found honey stains in Georgia dating back to 3,500BC . I was wondering if the story about those findings was true or just an urban legend/hoax.

P.S. I am interested if we have found actual remnants or honey in good condition , not writings or pictures of beekeeping etc.
I'm not one to question the veracity of an article published by the Smithsonian Institute, there's a lot riding on the name that could be destroyed by one b.s. article.
I've looked at scholarly journals, and while there tons of articles on the ancient uses of honey, there's none discussing the tasting of discovered honey. The Smithsonian article does a good job explaining the science of why honey could survive, and assuming that is 100% true, I don't see why scientists couldn't reconstitute some ancient honey crystals and take a taste.
